BRAZIL PORT AUTHORITY OPENS TENDER FOR ITAJAÍ ACCESS CHANNEL DREDGING

The Port of Itajaí has launched a public tender to hire a specialized company for maintenance dredging of its access channel, according to an announcement in the Official Gazette. The bid, Electronic Auction No. 90001/2026, includes dredging of internal and external channels, berths and turning basins. Contractors must prove technical and operational capacity compatible with the project. The services will cover areas under CODEBA’s responsibility and are expected to last 12 months. The port currently operates under a shared management model with CODEBA, an entity linked to the Ministry of Ports and Airports. Maintenance dredging is essential to ensure safe navigation in the Itajaí-Açu River access channel. At present, desilting activities at the port are being carried out by Dutch dredging company Van Oord.
