BRAZIL FORGES COMMITMENT WITH G20 TO TRIPLING RENEWABLE SOURCES

Under the direction of Alexandre Silveira, Brazil’s Minister of Mines and Energy, the G20 Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) has issued a unified declaration pledging to double energy efficiency and triple renewable energy capacity by 2030. The announcement underlines the use of low and zero-emission technologies and international cooperation to achieve fair, inclusive energy transitions. The ETWG also recommended tackling energy poverty and guaranteeing everyone has access to clean cooking methods by 2030, including offering financial support to less developed countries. Furthermore, the group pledges to achieve net-zero emissions by the middle of the century. The adoption of equitable and inclusive transition principles, to achieve inclusive economic, social, and environmental growth, has been spearheaded by Brazil.
