Brazil’s Investment Partnerships Program (PPI) approved on Thursday (2) a resolution that recommends a decree by President Jair Bolsonaro to allow study of the privatization of Petrobras. The company’s inclusion in PPI’s report can only be done after the decree. An inter-ministerial committee, made up of the Ministries of Economy and of Mines and Energy, will oversee studies on the privatization of Petrobras, as well as the sale of contracts with PPSA, the state-owned company that manages the trade of oil extracted from the pre-salt layer. According to Bruno Westin Leal, the special secretary of the PPI, the approved resolution does not grant the inclusion of Petrobras in the National Privatization Plan (PND), because it needs to be approved by the National Congress. “There is no defined schedule for any privatization process”, said Leal on deadlines.
