BRAZIL AGRIBUSINESS POSTS RECORD EXPORT REVENUE IN 2025, BUT 2026 OPENS UNDER UNCERTAINTY

Brazil’s agribusiness exports reached a record $169 billion in 2025, up 3% year-on-year, according to Cepea. Growth was volume-led, with shipments rising 3.4% while average prices slipped 0.4%. Gains were led by beef, pork, soybeans, corn, cotton and pulp. China, the EU and the U.S. remained key destinations. Container flows show China at 40,275 TEUs (+4%) and the U.S. at 20,885 TEUs (-34%). Early 2026 sees uncertainty linked to Middle East tensions, with risks to logistics and input costs. Around 30% of global fertilizer trade moves through the Strait of Hormuz. Brazil’s fertilizer market is largely on hold. Iran increased corn imports to 9 million tonnes in 2025 (vs. 4.33 million). The Middle East accounted for ~25% of Brazil’s chicken exports, with UAE and Saudi Arabia taking 877,000 tonnes.
