Brazil’s government advanced plans for a new Federal Police headquarters at the Port of Santos, signing an agreement for detailed design. The unit will occupy a 5,800 sqm site within the port, with a 10-story building integrating operational and administrative functions. Authorities expect stronger enforcement against drug trafficking and smuggling at Latin America’s largest port. The announcement also includes infrastructure projects: BRL 1 billion for the second phase of the Guarujá Perimetral road (delivery in ~3 years), BRL 350 million for two new Alemoa berths to expand throughput capacity, and over BRL 4 billion for breakwater rehabilitation. The Santos-Guarujá tunnel remains on schedule, with BRL 2.6 billion allocated. The package combines public and private investments to improve logistics efficiency and support cargo growth.
