BNDES RAISES R$1.08 BILLION IN JAPAN FOR ENERGY TRANSMISSION AND BIOFUELS

The BNDES secured a $190 million loan in Tokyo to finance energy transmission and biofuel projects in Brazil, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The funds, obtained from JBIC, Citibank, and Nishi-Nippon City Bank, were signed during President Lula’s visit to Japan. BNDES president Aloizio Mercadante highlighted JBIC as a key partner, with 18 loan contracts totaling $3.2 billion since the 1960s. The funds will support renewable energy initiatives, including hydroelectric, solar, wind, and biomass projects, under the Green initiative for economic growth and environmental preservation.
