BIODIESEL DEMAND INCREASES BY 8.9%, SOYBEAN OIL UP 10.3%

StoneX revised its projections for the biodiesel sector in Brazil after raising the mandatory blend to 15% as of August 2025. The demand estimate fell from 9.9 to 9.8 million m³ due to the revision in the growth of diesel B but still represents an increase of 8.9% over 2024. The consumption of soybean oil was adjusted to 7.9 million tons, an increase of 10.3% in the year, already exceeding 85% of the matrix in the 1st half. To alleviate this growing pressure on soy oil, the use of beef tallow is expanding; its exports to the U.S. surged 84% in 2025. Biodiesel sales in the first half totaled 4.53 million m³, a 6.2% increase, peaking with a monthly record of 819,000 m³ in May. With the implementation of B15, strong demand is anticipated in the second half, which is expected to tighten soybean oil availability and boost domestic prices.
