AUCTION PROJECTS MORE THAN BRL 30 BILLION FOR THE RESTORATION OF DEGRADED AREAS IN BRAZIL

The second Eco Invest Brasil auction outperformed projections, securing around BRL 30 billion in funding for the first phase of the Caminho Verde Brasil initiative, led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. The program aims to restore 40 million hectares of degraded land over the next decade, converting the areas into sustainable production systems, while ensuring zero deforestation across finance projects. The IDB reports that 10 winning financial institutions have pledged to restore at least 1.4 million hectares, preventing 140,000 hectares of deforestation and removing 19.5 million tons of CO₂ annually. The initiative offers below-market interest rates to increase food production with sustainable certification, enhance exports, and promote energy transition.
