AUCTION FOR ACCESS CHANNEL TO PORT OF PARANAGUÁ SET FOR AUGUST

Silvio Costa Filho, Minister of Ports and Airports, revealed in France that the auction for the access channel to the Port of Paranaguá (PR) will take place in August, with investments of up to BRL 1 billion. This is the first auction of its kind in a Brazilian public port, and it will be used as a model for future auctions in other ports. The expansion of the draft from 13.5 meters to 15.5 meters under the concession will enable the port to accommodate larger vessels, boosting efficiency and cargo capacity. Currently, the port handles 2,600 ships each year, primarily dry bulk carriers. The measure pledges to enhance international trade flows, attract investment, and spur regional economic development and job creation.
