ANTAQ APPROVES PORT LEASE TENDERS IN SALVADOR AND FORTALEZA

Brazil’s National Waterway Transportation Agency has approved two new port lease tenders to modernize facilities in Port of Fortaleza and Port of Salvador, expected to generate BRL 1.5 billion in revenue and BRL 54 million in investments. In Fortaleza, a 25-year lease for the MUC05 area will support bulk and mineral cargo, with BRL 1.12 billion in projected revenue and infrastructure upgrades including new and expanded warehouses. In Salvador, a 10-year lease for the SSDA3 area will focus on non-containerized cargo such as chemicals and fertilizers, with BRL 6.3 million allocated to modernization. According to acting director Cristina Castro, the projects will follow a simplified lease model, with investments made at the operator’s own risk.
