ANP REVISES RESOLUTION AFTER NEW BIODIESEL BLEND

The board of the Brazilian regulator ANP authorized the revision of the resolution setting the definition of biodiesel and standards on its quality control, in light of the recent government decision to raise the blend of biofuel in diesel sold at service stations. As a result of a decision made by the National Council for Energy Policy (CNPE), the country’s blend will rise to 12%. The change was praised by producers, especially those in the soy sector, which produces most of the raw materials. According to the ANP, in order to better manage contaminants, oxidative stability, and cold product attributes—all crucial components of biodiesel quality—the resolution was revised.
