AMBITIOUS INITIATIVE TO BOOST BIOFUEL OUTPUT WITH BRL 110 BILLION INVESTMENT BY 2035

As part of the PDE 2035, the government has released the Biofuel Supply Booklet, which details the expected growth in Brazil’s biofuel supply and demand during the worldwide energy transition. The plan projects a 30% rise in ethanol supply, reaching 51 billion liters by 2035, with corn-based ethanol accounting for more than 30% of overall output. Sugarcane bagasse is projected to generate 5.9 GW of bioelectricity and 6.4 billion Nm³ of biomethane, accounting for 10% of the country’s natural gas consumption in 2024. Biodiesel output is estimated to reach 13.9 billion liters, mostly from soybean oil, with a surplus capacity for marine fuel. SAF output is expected to reach 2.8 billion liters by 2035, covering 66% of the aviation sector’s emissions reduction commitments.
