AMAZONAS SET TO RECEIVE R$1.7 BLN FOR SHIPBUILDING

The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, announced in Manaus investments of R$1.7 billion from the Merchant Marine Fund (FMM) for the construction of 188 vessels in Amazonas, generating 10,000 jobs and supporting riverside communities. The projects, led by LHG Mining and Hermasa, will include barges and pushers to improve logistics, sustainability, and decarbonization, reducing truck dependence and greenhouse gas emissions. LHG Mining will build 128 vessels in Amazonas, part of a broader R$4.3 billion plan across four states, while Hermasa will construct 60 grain barges and two pushers with FMM financing. Since 2023, over R$70 billion in FMM resources have been prioritized nationwide, tripling previous years’ levels. The minister also inaugurated the Envira River port and announced modernization of Eirunepé’s port.
