According to AgRural, the planting of the 2026 second crop of corn had reached 12% of the predicted area in Brazil’s Center-South by January 29, a substantial increase from the previous week and faster than the rate of the 2025 second crop. Mato Grosso leads the work, followed by Paraná, with regular sowing in São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Goiás. The 2025-26 summer corn harvest reached 10% of the area in the Center-South, up from 5% the previous week but still below the 14% recorded in the same period last year, aided by drier weather.
