AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS IN MINAS GERAIS LEAD THE NATIONAL RANKING

From January to September 2025, agribusiness exports from Minas Gerais totaled US$14.5 billion, up 12.8% from the same period last year — the highest growth among Brazilian states. Coffee led exports, followed by soybean, sugar-alcohol, meat, and forestry products. Despite a 7.6% drop in shipped volume (13 million tonnes), higher prices boosted revenue, especially in coffee, which benefited from strong global demand and limited supply. The state, responsible for 70% of Brazil’s coffee exports, sold mainly to China, the U.S., Germany, Italy, and Japan. Grain exports reached US$7.77 billion (+48%), while soybeans totaled US$2.6 billion (–15%) and sugar-alcohol US$1.5 billion (–19.9%). Forestry products earned US$765 million. Minas Gerais remains Brazil’s third-largest agricultural exporter and is expected to surpass last year’s record of US$17 billion.
