ABOUT 28 MILLION HECTARES OF PASTURES COULD BECOME AGRICULTURAL AREAS

According to a recent Embrapa research, Brazil has around 28 million hectares of degraded pastures that could be converted into agricultural areas. This might result in a 35% increase in the area farmed with grains over the previous season. The research selected these areas by examining numerous databases using agronomic and environmental factors. Mato Grosso is the state with the greatest potential, followed by Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, and Pará. The study also reveals that over 40 different crops could be grown in these places. These results have the potential to affect public policy and investment initiatives in the agriculture industry.
