In the second half of January 2024, the Center-South region processed only 239.37 thousand tons of sugarcane, a sharp drop of 66.28% compared to the same period in the previous cycle. By February 1, milling for the 2024/2025 harvest totaled 614.16 million tons, down 4.93% from the same period last year. During this time, 19 production units were active, including 3 sugarcane processors, 10 corn ethanol plants, and 6 flex plants. Ethanol production reached 401.8 million liters, with an increase in anhydrous ethanol production (+73.97%). A significant portion of ethanol production came from corn, with 96.49% of ethanol produced from it. This year, corn ethanol production already surpassed the total output of the 2023/2024 harvest, marking a new record.
