RECORD GRAIN HARVEST STRAINS BRAZIL’S STORAGE CAPACITY

Brazil expanded its grain storage capacity last year due to investments from farmers and companies. However, the situation remains critical, with a shortfall estimated at over 120 million tons, according to estimates from the Brazilian Association of the Machinery and Equipment Industry (Abimaq). This bottleneck hampers the producers’ selling strategy. The National Supply Company (Conab) has estimated that the grain harvest in 2025-26 will produce 354.4 million tons. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), Brazil’s agricultural storage capacity grew by 1.8% in the first half of 2025, reaching 231.1 million tons. This capacity would be enough to hold only 67% of the total harvest estimated for the 2025-26 season.
