Cargo throughput at Brazilian ports hit a record and grew 4.97% year on year between January and November 2025, reaching 1.28 billion tonnes in the first 11 months of the year. Public ports in the state of Bahia handled 11.9 million tonnes (Mt) over the period. The president of the Federal Port Authority of Bahia (Codeba) detailed the operations at the state’s ports that have been supporting economic activity and national development. “At the Port of Salvador alone, 6.3 Mt were handled between January and November, followed by Aratu, with 5.4 Mt, and the Port of Ilhéus, which moved more than 186,000 tonnes, generating revenues of R$284 million for Bahia. Once December throughput data are consolidated, these figures will increase,” he said.
