CORN ETHANOL EXPANSION IS RESHAPING BRAZIL’S GRAIN INDUSTRY

Corn ethanol production surged from 8.3 billion to 10.2 billion liters between 2024 and 2025, a one-year increase of roughly 1.9 billion liters. According to Plínio Nastari, CEO of Datagro, this expansion has substantially boosted domestic corn consumption. “The growth in corn ethanol production was the primary driver of Brazil’s corn market in 2025,” he stated. The trend is set to continue. Nastari projects that for the 2026-27 harvest beginning in April 2026, production could rise by another 3 billion liters, potentially reaching a total of 13.2 billion liters.
