Soybeans were the top commodity handled at Paraná ports between January and October 2025, with 13 million tonnes shipped worth US$5.2 billion, representing 21.2% of total cargo, largely driven by record Brazilian harvests and strong Chinese demand, which accounts for 91% of exports from Paranaguá. October throughput surged 60% year on year, and the port also stood out in the soy complex, ranking second nationally in soybean meal exports and leading in soybean oil shipments. Major infrastructure projects are set to further boost capacity, including the Moegão complex starting in 2026, which will centralize rail unloading and raise capacity to 900 railcars per day and 24 million tonnes per year, the new T-Pier with faster loading systems, and deepening the access channel to allow larger vessels, enhancing competitiveness and reducing costs.
