BRAZILIAN MILLS SEND 257.33 MILLION LITERS OF ETHANOL TO OTHER COUNTRIES IN SEPTEMBER

Brazilian ethanol exports rose sharply in September, reaching 257.33 million liters — a 44% increase from August and 61.4% higher year-over-year, according to Secex and the MDIC. Despite a 3.5% annual drop in average price to US$549.82/m³, higher sales volume boosted revenue by 55.7%, totaling US$141.49 million. Main destinations included South Korea, the Netherlands, Sweden, the Philippines, and Colombia. From January to September, exports reached 1.31 billion liters, 9.2% below 2024 levels, with total revenue of US$750.82 million (-8%). The U.S. recently imposed a 50% import tax on Brazilian ethanol, estimated to add US$90.9 million in yearly costs. In response, President Lula signaled willingness to negotiate, while Atvos CEO Bruno Serapião called for stable market rules. In September, U.S. imports of Brazilian ethanol plunged 95.5% from August, with prices down 11.9% to US$656/m³.
