OVER BRL 96 BILLION IN INVESTMENTS COMING TO BRAZILIAN PORTS BY 2030

The Brazilian port sector is expanding at a record pace, with public and private expenditures expected to total BRL 96.7 billion by 2030. Ports, which account for 26% of national GDP and handle 780 million tons of cargo by 2025, should improve logistical competitiveness and promote sustainable development. Santa Catarina is set to receive BRL 5.3 billion for projects including the Babitonga Grain Terminal and the concession of the Port of Itajaí. Major projects like the Santos-Guarujá Tunnel (BRL 6.8 billion) and the dredging of the Port of Paranaguá (BRL 3.58 billion) are among the most prominent. Julio Cesar of the National Secretariat of Ports says BRL 3.7 billion will be spent on dredging public ports, the sector’s largest concession.
