BRAZIL’S SOYBEAN HARVEST PROJECTED AT 178 MILLION TONS, BUT LA NIÑA RISKS REQUIRE MONITORING

Brazil’s soybean harvest for 2025/26 is projected at a record 178 million tons, with potential growth of 3.7% over the previous season, according to Hedgepoint Global Markets. The planted area is expected to rise to 48.2 million hectares from 47.7 million last season, with average productivity slightly higher under normal climate conditions. Exports could reach 112 million tons, surpassing 109 million in 2024/25. However, experts caution monitoring La Niña, which typically brings drier conditions to southern Brazil and Argentina, potentially affecting output. October weather maps already indicate hotter, drier patterns, emphasizing the need for close climatic observation in the coming months to ensure the anticipated performance of the crop.
