The Port of São Sebastião is advancing with maintenance dredging at berth 101, expected to finish in October, with 40% of the 55,000 cubic meters of sediment already removed. The project, led by Companhia Docas de São Sebastião (CDSS) and authorized by Ibama, aims to restore the berth’s minimum depth of 10 meters, ensuring safer and more predictable operations while complying with environmental standards. Sediments are sustainably stored in the Containment Dike for potential reuse. Dredging is essential to counter natural silting from rain, winds, currents, and vessel activity, preserving the port’s strategic cargo flow capacity. In the first half of 2025, the port handled 858,000 tonnes of cargo, and in July reached a record 97% berth occupancy with 166,000 tonnes moved, the highest monthly volume since 2018, with highlights including bulk sugar, soda ash, and wheat.
