SUGARCANE CRUSHING IN THE CENTER-SOUTH REGION IS EXPECTED TO GROW 3.6% IN 2026/27, ACCORDING TO STONEX

StoneX’s first estimate for the 2026/27 sugarcane harvest in Brazil’s Center-South projects 620.5 million tons crushed, 3.6% above 2025/26 and the third-largest in history. The rebound is driven by cane field renewal, recovery of fire-affected areas, better rainfall, and expanded acreage. Productivity should reach 77.5 t/ha, while sugar output is forecast at 42.1 million tons (+5.7%), the second-highest ever, with exports projected to hit a record 34 million tons. Ethanol production will also rise, with sugarcane ethanol at 14.6 billion liters (+6.6%) and corn ethanol reaching 11.4 billion liters (+17.5%), nearly one-third of the total. In the Northeast, crushing should remain stable at 57.3 million tons, but corn ethanol production is set to approach 1 billion liters, led by new plants in Bahia, Tocantins, Piauí, and Rondônia, reinforcing its growing strategic role in diversifying the biofuels mix.
