2024-25 SOYBEAN CROP PLANTING HITS 4.5%, SAYS AGRURAL

Data from AgRural shows that the soybean crop planted in Brazil for 2024–25 reached 4.5% of the projected area on October 3, up from 2% the week before and 10% at the same period in 2023. Paraná leads the way with 25% of the sowed area gaining from higher humidity. On the other hand, planting in Mato Grosso is slower than it has been since 2015–16 as there hasn’t been enough rain to restore the soil. Most states limit planting to dry conditions. In the Center-South, 37% of the projected area for the summer corn crop of 2024–25 was planted; this is similar to 30% of the previous week and nearly the same amount as last year. Crop development is encouraged by the climate in the south region, some areas in Minas Gerais have started to be planted in irrigated fields.
