SOYA PRODUCTION IN BRAZIL ESTIMATED IN 123.5 MI TONS

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) attache estimated the 2019/2020 Brazilian soyabean crop at 123.5 million tons. The projection is almost 2% higher than the 121.09 million tons estimated in the December report of the National Supply Company (Conab). Compared to the 116 million tons produced by Brazil in the 2018/2019 cycle, the increase is 4%. With this volume, Brazil is expected to reach the position of largest soya producer in the world, surpassing the United States, which suffered from the rainy weather at the beginning of the crop and should have significant losses in crops. The area sown was forecast at 36.8 million hectares for 2019/2020, compared to 36.2 million hectares in the previous year and 36.7 million hectares projected by Conab. Exports for 2019/2020 were estimated at 75 million tons, compared to 73 million tons in the previous year.
