According to ANTAQ, the participation of “Arco Norte” in the flow of soyabeans and corn to the international consumer markets doubled in eight years, from 14% of the total exported in 2010 to 28% in 2018. The figure was 29.6 million tons, out of the 104.9 million tons exported from the two goods in the period. The increase in North Exit participation intensified from 2014. That year it reached 17%, jumped to 21% in 2015 and reached 27% in 2017. By the ports of the “South Exit” (Santos, Paranaguá and others), were sold for export, last year, 75.3 million tons. According to the Aquaviário Statistician, the states located within the Arco Norte (all North and Northeast states, besides Mato Grosso and part of Goiás and Minas Gerais) accounted for 52% of the Brazilian soyabean and corn production (103.7 millions of tons). On the other hand, the states that make up the South Exit (states of the South and Southeast regions, besides Mato Grosso do Sul and part of Goiás) produced 95.5 million tons of the two oilseeds. The main port facilities that drained soya and corn for export in Arco Norte in 2018 were the public ports of Itaqui, Maranhão, with 9.7 million tons, and Santarém, in Pará, with 4.6 million tons, and the Cotegipeprivate terminals, Bahia, with 3.8 million tons, Ponta da Montanha and Terfron terminals, both in Pará, with 3.2 and 2.8 million tons, respectively. In the south, the highlights were the ports of Santos (27.9 million tons), Paranaguá, Paraná, with 16.4 million tons, Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul , with 6.6 million tons, and São Francisco do Sul, in Santa Catarina (5.9 million tons) and Tubarão private terminal, Espírito Santo, with 5.2 million tons.
