AgRural foresees an increase of 1 million hectares in the area planted with soybeans in Brazil in the 2022/23 crop, according to its market analyst Daniele Siqueira. This is the first AgRural’s estimate for the soybean area in the 2022/23 season. It represents an increase of 2.5% when compared to the area planted in the 2021/22 season. “Despite its extent, it is the smallest increase since the 2017/18 season, as production costs and prices are starting to decline. Even with this challenging background, especially for fertilizers, Brazil will increase the area planted with soybean, however, not as much as in recent years”, said Siqueira. For the summer 2022/23 corn crop, AgRural expects stability in the sown area. “The area still depends on the behavior of corn growth at the beginning of the 2021/22 off-season as well as on the falling prices”, she said. For the second 2022/23corn crop, AgRural’s forecasts will only be known in December. “It will depend on the behavior of corn prices and exports”.
