WILMAR SEES CLIMATE IMPROVEMENT FOR BRAZIL’S SUGARCANE HARVEST

Recent rains in Brazil’s main sugar-producing region are anticipated to enhance this year’s harvest prospects, according to Wilmar, a prominent Asian commodities trading company. The Central-South region is forecasted to witness its second-highest sugarcane yield in nine years. Wilmar projects the 2024/25 harvest to yield between 620 and 630 million tons, with sugar production estimated at 42.5 to 44.5 million tons. These figures nearly match the record production of the previous harvest. Despite Wilmar’s optimistic projections, French company Sucden expects lower production due to below-average rainfall. Wilmar’s forecasts consistently surpass analyst and trader estimates, demonstrating confidence in Brazil’s sugar production outlook.
