Timbro, a Brazilian foreign trade entrepreneur, started to develop a small ethanol distillery in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The project will allow the company to join the ethanol sales sector for fuel distributors. The process is at the stage of assembling equipment and obtaining licenses from the responsible entities. The distillery is expected to start operating in November 2022. The ethanol will be initially produced from rice. About 50 million liters of ethanol are expected to be sold in the first year of operation. According to Timbro’s sugar and ethanol director Pietro Costantino, “the idea is to find logistical and financial solutions from units that regularly sells sugar to Timbro, later expanding the portfolio of partner units and, in the medium term, preparing to evaluate the access to the energy market”.
