As of the second half of August, the sugarcane crushing in Brazil’s North and Northeast regions for the year 2023/24 reached 8.74 million tons, indicating a 9.1% increase from the previous cycle’s 8 million tons crushed during the same period in 2022/2023. NovaBio, the Association of Sugar, Ethanol, and Bioenergy Producers, has reported that approximately 14% of the crop, which began last month, has already been harvested. Renato Cunha, the executive president at NovaBio, has stated that the harvesting process stopped in September due to a very humid period, with heavy rainfall exceeding 200 millimeters per month in some regions of the North and Northeast.
