Rice exports (husk base) totaled 153.4 thousand tons in January, compared to 141.9 thousand tons in the same month of 2022, informs the Brazilian Association of the Rice Industry (Abiarroz). Shipments represented revenues of US$ 48.3 million, against US$ 44.6 million in the same period last year. According to Abiarroz, external sales in January are within the expectations of the sector. The entity expects that such performance to be repeated in the coming months, but points out that the result will depend a lot on the global economic scenario, still impacted by the conflict in Eastern Europe, the consequences of the covid-19 pandemic and the fall in the harvest of large rice producers, such as some countries in Asia and the United States. Processed rice exports reached 25,188 tons in January, equivalent to US$ 10.4 million.
