Petrobras has traded the first bunch of Diesel R5 produced for commercial tests. About 1,500 cubic meters of Diesel R5 were produced at the Presidente Getúlio Vargas Refinery (Repar), in Curitiba-PA. According to the state-owned company, “this is an important step towards the regular sale and greater volumes of the product”. The new diesel fuel R5 is produced from the co-processing of vegetable oils or animal fat with petroleum diesel oil (in this case, refined soy oil supplied by Bunge), which results in a product with 5% renewable material, also called green diesel. Petrobras has not mentioned the name of the purchaser, on the other hand, the company said distributors will add the 10% biodiesel ester, as established by current legislation.
