Cargo movement at the Port of Santos increased by 0.6% last month, surpassing the mark of 9 million tons. According to the Docks Company of the State of São Paulo (Codesp, the Port Authority of Santos), with this result, the forecast is that the maritime complex will arrive in December having operated 136.36 million tons of goods, registering an increase of 2% over that recorded in 2018. Movement data was released this week by Codesp. According to the company, shipments there grew 0.6%, while discharges, 0.7%. The growth in January was strongly influenced by the 56% increase in the load of greater representativeness regarding the tonnage, the soya complex (grain and meal), which added 1.15 million tons. This volume represented almost 13% of the overall movement and about 20% of the cargo shipped. Another commodity with significant participation in last month’s operations was fertilizer, with 450K tons discharged.
