The Ministry of Agriculture has authorized 48 producers in Mato Grosso to anticipate the planting of soybeans in the state, exceptionally allowing the oilseed to be planted before the end of the sanitary void, scheduled for September 15th. The sowing calendar and the sanitary void are focused on controlling Asian soybean rust in the country, but the dates are flexible based on technical arguments. The ministry’s authorization was given in response to a demand from the Mato Grosso Association of Cotton Producers (Ampa), which argues that in this El Niño year there are greater climatic risks for those who make the second harvest, as the rains could be more weak ahead of time, already between the end of March and beginning of April. Earlier planting of soybeans could result in a premature harvest, possibly before the end of December.
