Members of the business mission from Santa Catarina state industry federation Fiesc in Asia this week visited the two largest ports in South Korea. They met with port authorities to discuss ways to deepen commercial relations. The Koreans’ heightened interest is due to two factors. The first is the current state of the ports of Navegantes and Itapoá and the expansion of the port capacity of Busan. For example, Navegantes had a 1.1 million container throughput in 2022, while Busan closed the year with more than 22 million. Secondly, the interest is also due to the news that a Korean company has installed itself in Santa Catarina, and another has plans to settle in the northern part of the state.
