HEATED EXPORTS KEEP WHEAT TRADE SURPLUS IN BRAZIL

Brazil’s domestic wheat market sees limited activity amid a focus on soybean and corn crops, while exports maintain strength, contributing to a surplus in the trade balance for the early months of the year. According to Secex data, Brazil’s wheat exports reached 812.18 thousand tonnes by the fourth week of January, up from 561.52 thousand tonnes the previous year. Conversely, imports increased to 520.64 thousand tonnes, with import prices averaging US$ 249.2/t FOB origin, marking a 30% decrease from the previous year’s average of US$ 356.2/t.
