CORN CROP IN PARANA IS OFF TO A FAST START DUE TO GOOD RAINFALL

Corn planting in Paraná in the 2023/24 cycle got off to the fastest start in recent years, indicating that soybean producers may follow suit, with rains in the south region predicted by the El Niño phenomenon, according to data from the state government’s Department of Economy Rural (Deral). In the first harvest, Paraná produces a very modest area of corn, using most of its area for soybeans, a crop that must adhere to the sanitary void veto against Asian rust until September 10. However, as Deral analyst Edmar Gervásio said, the meteorological conditions are good for soybean producers to work early. Early soybean planting promotes the growth of the second corn crop, which is planted following the soybean harvest.
