The Port of Natal saw its cargo throughput grow to 277,910 tonnes in the first half of 2022, up 9.19% compared to last year when it handled 254,518 tonnes. The products that stood out the most among exports were the fruits exported to Europe, which grew 6.05% with 95,527 shipped. In the same period of 2021, the volume of the fruits shipped was 90,075 tonnes. Fruit exports are the Port of Natal’s main highlight, accounting for most of the traffic at the terminal. Wheat imports, on top of that, round out the figures. The shipment of sugar was also critical to the favorable outcome, demonstrating the port’s strategic growth plan’s success. Although the total flow of commodities decreased in 2021, going from 710,912 tonnes to 617,469 tonnes, this year’s data show a significant increase in the first semester. The port is managed by Companhia Docas do Rio Grande do Norte (Codern).
