BRAZIL’S NORTHEAST RECEIVED BRL 605 MILLION IN INVESTMENTS FOR PORT DEVELOPMENT

The Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor) showcased projects for Brazil’s Northeast region during the “Infrastructure and Development of the Northeast” symposium in São Paulo. Minister Silvio Costa Filho underlined the relevance of the project to the region’s and country’s competitiveness and sustainability. He proposed a 10% increase in cargo handling in northeastern ports by 2024, focusing on Suape and Pecém ports, which have received significant improvements. The government has invested BRL 300 million and expects another BRL 2.5 billion by next year. MPor also developed the Navegar Simples Program and conducts significant dredging operations. In aviation, the focus is on requalifying 22 regional airports for a total investment of BRL 10 billion.
