Rice exports totaled 388.7 thousand tonnes in October, the highest monthly volume of the year, generating US$ 122.5 million in revenue. The volume shipped was nearly three times that of the same month in 2021. Revenue grew 185%. “If we continue at the current rate, rice exports will undoubtedly reach 2 million tonnes by the end of the year,” says Gustavo Trevisan, director of international affairs at Abiarroz. However, he believes that more effort is needed to open new markets, such as Mexico, for products like processed rice. Shipments of processed rice reached 44.4 thousand tonnes in October, with a share of 11.43% of the total volume exported by the country. In the same month of 2021, there were 66.9 thousand tonnes.
