BRAZIL: THE NEW GAS, BESIDES OFFSHORE

While the natural gas industry still awaits a clear definition of the future of new offshore pipeline routes, the gas market could be strengthened in the coming years with the “new gas” from underused sources, now developing a new dynamism. Both, the investment growth for recovering older onshore production fields, with new independent producers in the sector, and the growth expectations of the biomethane industry can contribute to an additional supply of at least 5 million m³/day in the coming years. The volume is equivalent to about 7% of the current domestic market demand. Companies with 3R Petroleum, Eneva, Origin Energia, and PetroReconcavo emerge as the main players in onshore gas.
