Brazil’s total corn production in 2022/23 is expected to be 125.8 million tons, with 70% consumed and 30% exported. According to Daniel Rosa, technical director at Abramilho, Brazil has a corn surplus, meeting both internal and external demand. He points out that the nearly two million tons of corn imported from Argentina and Paraguay are “far to a production close to 126 million tons”. What is missing are adjustments to the domestic corn distribution, such as public stock for small farmers and the practice of early purchase by large producers and industry outgrowers.
