CORN SILAGE HARVEST HITS 62% COMPLETION ACROSS THE CULTIVATED AREA

Rio Grande do Sul’s corn silage harvest reached 62% of the area with good productivity, meeting expectations. Recent rains have boosted soil moisture for November crops, but early drying and reduced plant growth have caused losses in some regions. About 15% has been harvested in Bagé, while the rest is underway. Frederico Westphalen harvested 44 thousand kg/ha, while the second harvest is underway. Lajeado gathered 80% with above-average yields, and Dois Lajeados produced 45–50 thousand kg/ha. The harvest is nearing completion in Montenegro, and the regions in Barão that were planted early are seeing good results. Areas that were planted later may be more susceptible to weather-related losses.
