PORT OF PARANAGUÁ RECEIVES FIRST-EVER “GREEN” SHIP

The Pyxis Ocean, a bulk carrier that set sail from Shanghai in August, is scheduled to arrive at Paranaguá Bay on Friday, September 15th. It will be the first time that the Port of Paranaguá in Brazil will receive this ship. The vessel uses metallic sails that can reduce pollutant emissions by up to 30%. This is a significant breakthrough in commercial navigation. BAR Tech WindWings technology was created in collaboration with Yara Marine Technologies and was funded by the European Union. The aim was to innovate while lowering operational costs and pollutant emissions. The Port of Paranaguá has been at the forefront of the fight against greenhouse gas emissions. Recently, it received the ship MV Afros, which used spinning sails to move the vessel and save fuel. The transportation of grains and soybean meal through the Port of Paranaguá’s Eastern Export Corridor has increased by 17.5% in the first eight months of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.
