BRAZILIAN SUGAR EXPORTS UP 50.3% IN JANUARY

Brazil sugar exports started this year with rises. The mills exported 2.02 million tons of the product in the first month of the year, up 50.3% from January 2022 (1.35 million tons). This is the biggest volume exported for the time period since 2017, when 2.21 million tons of sugar left the country. The average price per ton that was agreed upon was USD 430.03, an annual increase of 11.7%. Thus, monthly income increased by 67.9% over January of last year to USD 870.26 million. Algeria (218.89 mt), Nigeria (181.85 mt), Morocco (167.25 mt), Egypt (161.73 mt), and China (152.70 mt) were the biggest markets for Brazilian sugar.
