SUSTAINABILITY: CATTALINI TERMINAL WELCOMES METHANOL-POWERED SHIP

The private pier of Cattalini Terminais Marítimos welcomed the arrival of the ship Stena Pro Patria last week, showcasing an important example of sustainability. Originating from Trinidad and Tobago, this ship stands out for utilizing methanol as fuel, a growing trend in the maritime industry that aims to replace fuel oil, currently used by 95% of commercial ships worldwide. One of the critical advantages of methanol as a marine fuel is its low emissions profile. Compared to traditional marine fuels, methanol eliminates sulfur dioxide (SOx) and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions and reduces particulate matter by up to 80%. The Stena Pro Patria is part of a fleet consisting of six vessels from a joint venture between Proman, a methanol producer, and Stena Bulk.
