In early October, sugarcane processing in Brazil’s Center-South region reached 33.83 million tons, a 2.75% increase over the same period in 2023. Total processing for the 2024/2025 harvest reached 538.85 million tons by October 16, up 2.36% from the previous cycle, as reported by Unica. Production included 255 units, with 236 processing sugarcane and the rest producing ethanol. Total Recoverable Sugars (ATR) rose 6.98% in early October, while sugar production increased 1.93% from last year. Ethanol output hit 2.01 billion liters in early October, with hydrated ethanol up nearly 22% and anhydrous ethanol up 3.56%. Corn ethanol production rose sharply, accounting for 16.31% of biofuel output in the region, totaling 4.13 billion liters since the start of the harvest, a 27.35% increase.
